MP-3874 Mixer Coils

Typically installed in the LC-066SS liquid cooler or LC-SSX1 heat exchanger (which can then be attached to our standard cold plate coolers to make a liquid cooler with a 316 stainless steel (SS) liquid path). The MP-3874 mixer coils provide an inexpensive way to increase heat transfer and overall heat pumping capacity, particularly in low flowrate applications and/or with high-viscosity fluids.

The MP-3874 mixer coils provide an inexpensive way to increase heat transfer and overall heat-pumping capacity in applications where the liquid flow rate is less than the recommended 1.6 liters/minute or and/or the fluid viscosity is higher than water.

The MP-3874 Mixer Coils can be used with the LC-SSX1 heat exchanger as well as the LC-066SS liquid cooler. The mixer coils are made from stainless steel, so they are capable of being used with high purity or corrosive fluids.  In applications where the flow rate is low or the fluid is more viscous that water, the resulting performance of the heat exchanger is reduced. The mixer coils help stir up the water to improve the heat transfer.

Depending on the application’s flow rate and desired fluid temperature, the mixer coils can be an inexpensive way to improve the heat pumping capacity of the cooler and avoid having to use a larger, more expensive cooler or multiple coolers.

• 316 stainless steel mixer coils is ideal for many types of liquids which are otherwise not compatible with anodized aluminum or copper.

• Two mixer coils are included in each set to provide full coverage in the LC-SSX1 heat exchanger tubing.

• When used with water, the mixer coils can be helpful with flow rates less then 1.5 L/min.

Installation is simple.  One end of the mixer coil is flared. Just insert the non-flared end of the coil into the inlet or outlet, feed the mixer into the tube and then secure the mixer by compressing the flared end until it fits inside the tube.  The resulting tension when installed in the tube keeps it in place.  Once in the tube we recommend that the mixer is pressed in until the flared section is approximately even to the aluminum body of the heat exchanger.
